Los Angeles based Photographer Kevin Rolly’s “oilgraphing” technique makes for some interesting textures. Oilgraphing is a process that Kevin developed in 1994, which makes a seamless blend of traditional photography and oil mediums. Click here to check out his site, or here to learn more about his oilgraphing technique. (via).

“I’m 5′ and weight about 90 pounds, I have long brown hair and big brown eyes and I wear funny looking glasses. I have the kind of face that people feel like asking direction or the time from”.

It always amazes me when someone opens the doors to their lives online. Israel based Lily Dan does just that. Amazingly powerful, beautiful and sometimes disturbing photos and passages on her Flickr site (not to mention some fantastic art) and also a very honest blog. (via).

Kate and Camilla

“Kate Steciw and Camilla Meshiea met 5 years ago at Smith College, in a photo class. They had to share a camera since there weren’t enough to go around. Their first shoot together was a bizarre, debaucherous affair involving hot dogs. They never stopped working together thereafter.”

New York photography duo Kate and Camilla put a fresh spin on portraiture by celebrating unexpected beauty and eroticism in their diverse subjects.

Paul Mpagi Sepuya

The starck work of New York based Photographer Paul Mpagi Sepuya.

“My portraits are the work generated as I explore the meaning of the desire and motivations that exist in the relationships between the young men who are my friends and at times, objects of affection, and myself, the artist. Photography is the drug that lowers my inhibition and permits me to investigate those networks of ambiguous relationships that grow out of platonic interest and sexual desire.

Photography is also a tool of pleasure, of indulgence, and of voyeurism. They are about potential, the erotic tension of the approach. This approach is just that and nothing more, a sexual act where both partners are engaged and distant. I photograph my sitters with as much nudity as they will allow me precisely because I am allowed this temporary indulgence, and because it asks both of us to acknowledge the oft-denied physical attraction within relationships”. “People are amazing and portraying them as they are is what I do”. Jannica Honey is a professional Photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland and Stockholm, Sweden. Her “real” and intimate style of photography is very much in the vein of other photographers we admire (Terry! OK there I said it, I feel better now). (via).

I stumbled upon some work by an Artist known as Panzar. He/She/They have some amazing 3D CG work here, but also have some erotic 2D work here, which lead me to their XXX erotic art at XXX Madness (it’s a paysite but you can check out some of his work on the tour). Scary! How deep does the rabbit hole go?!

LuvGalz

Posted in Design, Illustration, Motion, Photography, Web-based by sexinart

LuvGalz is loosely set up to be a “tribute to femininity”. What’s cool about it is that it’s open to all Artists who want to participate. There are a few catergories open to contributions: Illustration, Photo, Video and Animation. The flash interface makes it a little annoying to browse through the submitted works but there’s definitely some cool pieces in there (submitted by a few Artists we’ve featured already) which makes it all worthwhile.

Ron Mueck

Posted in Fine Art by sexinart

ron.jpg

Until his mid-30s, Australian-born sculptor Ron Mueck was a big-screen special effects wizard working on films like Labyrinth (1986). It was his grotesquely beautiful sculpture Dead Dad, a perfect little replica of his father’s corpse lying on the floor at the Royal Academy’s 1997 Britart extravaganza Sensation, which first convinced the world of his crossover into art.

Having been to one of his exhibitions, at first, it’s the sheer technical brilliance of the figures that astounds. From the stubble on the chin of the small Man In A Boat to the mole on the neck of the 8ft-tall Pregnant Woman, the attention to detail is awe inspiring. But the real power is in the way Mueck plays with scale. His work is lifelike but not lifesize, brilliantly undermining your perception of the everyday.
