Simone Leigh
Simone Leigh (born in Chicago, lives and works in Brooklyn) is a Caribbean artist who’s ceramic sculptures draw parallels between the history of colonialism and the history of ceramics. By commenting on the stereotyping of race and ethnicity through subtle changes in ceramic glazes, Leigh provokes viewers into confronting their own superficial prejudices about the female body & the tradition of craft.
