How’s this for a concept? In his series Camera Club, Chris Verene infiltrated the world of “camera clubs,†groups of dirty old men who lure young girls into modeling nude or seminude by placing classified ads in newspapers and pretending to be professional fashion photographers. He posed as a camera club photographer, joined the group and played the part, but then turned his camera on the photographers themselves. By positioning himself behind the men and pretending to be tinkering with his camera – loading his film, testing his flash – Verene could easily release his shutter without arousing the suspicion of his already distracted colleagues. More here.

No need for words. This is the art of one very twisted (not to mention freakishly talented) Japanese girl. I laughed out loud, felt yucky, horny, sad… I’m just truly blown away. Check out Ryuko Azuma’s work at www.rapeme.org

Today’s history/respect lesson: A Master of Photography. Robert Mapplethorpe, (1946-1989).
Born in New York, Mapplethorpe’s photos ranged from sexually explicit to sublimely beautiful. He gained recognition in the 1970s with elegantly composed, (and back then, sometimes shocking) male nudes. Throughout his career he also made portraits of his friends and celebrities in the fields of music, art, literature, and entertainment and took still lifes of flowers that were simple in concept but exquisitely detailed.
Himself a victim of AIDS, he established a foundation to focus on medical research for the disease. Click here for a gallery of his works.

I really enjoyed going through all of New York based Robert Whitman’s photos. Nice light (you know how sometimes, outside, near sunset, the light’s just beautiful?), spontaneous and intimate, in the moment hugs and everyday gestures.

ABCK is Amber B and Claudio Kirac, who are a dynamic duo (read: lovers!) from the Gold Coast area in the sunny state of Queensland, Australia. The Gold Coast is not exactly known for it’s abundant creativity but these creative kids sure do produce some very pretty work indeed.

Continuing the party theme (see post below): originally from Finland, Bjorn Fagerholm’s fascination with the New York party scene has inspired him to create New York Nightlife an ongoing photo project which captures the crazy party people of New York (damn there are some freaks there!). Clever site design, original soundtrack too.

Known only as ‘Bronques’, his in the moment Urban Pinup photography is sleazy… but damn good!!! Urban Pinups features non-professionals eager for an alternative to the false, airbrushed beauty of the fashion industry. They are the hot girls and boys that you will meet at parties, clubs or on the street. Real people, empowered by eroticism, are redefining style and sexuality for a new generation.”. Love the photos, love reading the little bit of text he write for each little shoot.

I first learned about Agent Provocateur on a DVD magazine which showcased the Exclusive Designer Lingerie’s 10th birthday celebrations with extravagant and exceptionally clever stunts and promotions. The company has become reknowned for their show-stopping/eye-popping launches, which have driven the business into immense success.
As quoted from Agent Provocateur.com
“A woman wearing a scrumptious pair of turquoise tulle knickers promotes in herself a sexy superhero feeling which exudes itself as a confident and positive sexuality.†… Three cheers to that.

The Love Life website features the current Safe Sex campaign targeted at Switzerland. A sleek and thoughtful campaign which deals with the serious issue of the dangers of unprotected sex, uses two fast paced and poignant TVCs relating their tagline “No Action without protection” to the very physical sports of Fencing, Ice Hockey and Motorcycle racing… With all participants completely naked.
There’s also some fun and quirky sections to this site, check out the Love Lips section and send someone sexy message through a sultry speaking condom.

Argentinian photographer Yamandú Rodriguez. Love his photos of faceless women in various states of undress. Repetitively clicking the “play” button (or autoplay) on each mini gallery almost makes for a dirty ‘at the scene’ experience.

I love Ken Matsuyama’s artist statement: “Has it been since I entered an elementary school? Or, much before since that I was interested in sex? For some reason, my family talked about “hobby” in those days. I think I didn’t know the meaning of “hobby” well and I asked my mother “What is hobby?”. After she explained it “the things what you like”. She asked me my hobby. I said, “the word starting from E (in Japanese character)” hesitatingly. She asked again, “Do you mean E-WO-KAKUKOTO (that means Drawing pictures in Japanese)?”. But I was nervous and I did not answer her easily. After a while, I replied to her, “ECCHI-NA-KOTO (that means Erotic things in Japanese)”. My mother frowned and scolded me.
My works named “I love boobs” consists of followings : about 30 oil paintings of “Boobs”, sculptures of “Boobs” which were engraved laced designs, “Boobs suit” (wear it, and everyone can have big breats), and “hugging boobs doll” (everyone can hold this stuffed toy).”.
Haha, what a dude! I’d love dunk a few Asahi’s with this guy. Much more good stuff on his site.

I just get so jealous when I see Celia Calle’s work (lol). It just oozes so much style (I wish I could draw women like she does). Her work features on cover art for Marvel and DC Comics and big companies including MTV, ESPNSports, Adidas, Nike, Pepsi have also contracted her for her talents. More work on her heavily copyrighted web site www.celiacalle.com
