Shary Boyle
Drawings, paintings, sculptures, projections and illustrations, even if it is sexy, or about sex, there is something very uncomforting about Shary Boyle’s surreal artwork.

Didier Carre runs GalleryCarre.com where he posts his black and white erotic photographs. In the same vein as Hegre-Art.com and Errotica-Archives.com, he’s got thousands of images on his site but you’ve got to pay to play (hey if it’s your thing then you’ll be happy that it’s just a small admission fee to enter erotica paradise!). Here’s a preview gallery of the kind of work you’ll find inside.
Femmes with penis! Camille MM’s drawings are sexy, kinky and all done in great humour to boot.
Lovelines is an exploration of human desire. Through large scale blog analysis, the project illuminates the topography of the emotional landscape between love and hate, as experienced by countless normal humans keeping personal online journals.
Using a data collection engine, Lovelines examines thousands of blogs every few minutes to find expressions of love and hate, posted by all manner of people. When it can, Lovelines identifies and saves the age, gender, and geographical location of the person who wrote the post, and then presents that information along with the post. The entries range from frivolous to profound, offering a glimpse into the hearts and minds of people blogging about their wants and needs.

The creators, Jonathan Harris & Sepandar Kamvar, are also the geniuses behind: 10×10, WordCount( ), Phylotaxis, justcurio.us and most recently We Feel Fine.
Chicago based Michael Sloane has a very simple and effective site which makes browsing through his great photographs a breeze. He’s also blogs.
Absolutely amazing Horihito tattoo art photographed beautifully in black and white by Tatsumi Takuya.
Nice… Check out some of Robert Laliberte’s diverse and quirky work.
Of special interest to us at Sex in Art, are his photographs of naked men, in “which the male body is artfully sculpted with light”. Plenty of Greek God-like physiques here.
When I was a naughty little kid, I used to often take a sneek peek at a book full of nudes that was hiding in my parent’s bedroom. It was a Playboy book of illustrated nudes by Alberto Vargas (I still have it today!!!).
Alberto Vargas was born in Arequipa, Peru, in 1896 (he passed away in 1982). His name has become synonymous with pin-up girls. Esquire magazine made him famous and later in his life, Vargas (who signed his work “Varga”) was signed up by Mr Playboy himself, Hugh Hefner. His regular Playboy slot in the 1960s and ’70s elevated Vargas to the legend he is today.
Check out Varga works here, here and some essays here. Also research George Petty, the man who inspired Vargas. He’s perhaps most famous for painting the girl on the Memphis Belle.
Hajime Sorayama is sometimes described as an imaginative modern day Vargas. He’s famous for his “Sexy Robot” series (which amazingly dates all the way back to 1979) but he’s got so much more highly detailed erotic airbrush work under his belt. Click here for his official Japanese site, and here for his English site, unfortunately neither of them have extensive gallery sections but doing a quick search using your fave search engine should reveal many Sorayama fan sites link this one for example.
Mexican Illustrator and Artist Armando Huerta, has a thing for wild women. His trademark “Better Nasty than Sexy” gives you a pretty good indication of the type of imagery you’ll see on his site. Hey, with the work he’s producing it’s a pretty good motto to go by.
A distinctive named guy with a distinctively apt style. Loic’s photographic online portfolio features some very hot imagery with dark undertones. Scantily dressed ladies in various forms of distress to clean portraiture of models with distracting makeup and electrical devices.
Phillip Toledano’s work is refreshingly witty. Got to love an artist who values concepts as well as style. Whilst his personal site is very pretty to look at, I found it much easier navigating through his work on the Art Department web site.
Arthur de Pins is a French illustrator with some very curvy graphics and amusing animations.
I’ve been tripping out on Andrea Giacobbe’s work for years. You might have seen some of her work in Dazed and Confused Magazine, or in Garbage’s film clip for ‘Push it’. Click here to check out a selection of her amazing work and click here to view the Garbage film clip.
Designer Emma Megitt has perhaps represented urine and excrement in the most subtle, lovable and harmless way you can image: plush toys!!! Originally sold separately, the cuddly toys Pee&Poo are now available in a duo pack - together for ever.
